August 2018- Month in Review

Hello everyone!

I hope you had an amazing August! It was a busy month for me, but I am so ready to go back to school!

Favorite verse:

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)

I’m going to be completely honest here:

This was a tough month for my anxiety. It’s been really hard, but I’ve found such hope in God’s Word. And my dad and I are memorizing the book of Colossians, and there are so many great verses in there… this one being one of them. It’s so comforting to know Christ’s peace!

Favorite article:

From Crafted by Christ: “I Could Choose to be Depressed.”

Miriam points out how we can almost always choose joy and peace over depression and anxiety- and the solution is not “learning to love ourselves again”. This was a thoughtful, insightful article, as usual!

Favorite song:

My sister and I heard this song for the first time at camp this month, and we love it! Sometimes we sing together before bed, and we’ve sung this one a few times. It’s so beautiful. 🙂

Favorite video:

John Crist is a Christian comedian, and he is hilarious! “I just flew my family halfway across America to visit Disney, and all my homeschool kids want to do is visit the Hall of Presidents!” Why is this so relatable? XD

Books I’ve enjoyed this month:

Lies Young Women Believe: and the truth that sets them free by Nancy DeMoss (five stars)

Chu Ju’s House by Gloria Whelan (five stars)

Year of Impossible Goodbyes by Sook Nyul Choi (five stars)

The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis (five stars)

Coming next month:

Next month we have parts 2 and 3 of “Lasting Beauty in a Temporary World”, as well as a special article that got published on! Stay tuned!

Love, Anna
